Central Chile - Pucon / Salta by bus

The flat, industrialized, with lots of traffic Panamericain Road  or 2000km of Argentinian pampa are not best places for cyclists. That's why we decided to switch for a bus!

Santiago

After 2 months in the patagon emptiness, we are threw in the seething Santiago.

The Central Market, stalls with a huge fish diversity.

1st of May, getting out of the merto to visit the typical Barrio Brasil, we find ourselves in the heart of the day of the work manifestation. At the beggining quiet, whit music, slogans against the governement, petitions, fruit sales, some tensions appears. Demonstrators throw paving stones on carabinieros, broke shop windows and bring fires. Carabinieros retort with water hoses (with acid...), charging at the crowd with horses and motocrosses. In 2h, the rally is dibanded!

Chile 1st port, exporting fruits, wine and copper.
It's also the source of the cultural diversity ot the city

We feeled our first teremoto (earthquake), local cocktail with white wine, grenadine, ferney and pineapple icecream! Even if the ground didn't shaked for us, there is an important seismic risck here. 5 weeks ago, a 2 min long earthquake, Mw7.1 shaked the city. Fortunately, without tsunami and damages. According to local rumors, eartquakes are due to 'A Ground Shaking Machine', invented by the US!!! Moreother, an influential medium predicted the next Big One for the 20th May...!
